| SMF Pro for monitoring the Forestry Machinery |
| |
The extension SMF Pro allows monitoring and analysis of forest operations using data from GPS system Garmin GPS (*. gpx) or TruckBase (*. slv). It presents a menu available in the views.
It includes features for using the GPS points to create lines and polygons. Other features allow you to adjust the date and time for later analysis of achieving productivities (ha / h) reports.
Intermediary functions identify and analyze time positions are in breaks and traction mode.
The results produced by the extension are in different formats. They may constitute Shapefile representing the routes and areas covered by the GPS positions or analysis report in Crystal Reports or Microsoft Excel format.
Points Theme Filtration will produce specific results that will be used to generate lines and polygons more uniform.
The Creating Geometries function allows rapid processing of data points to create lines and polygons, using one or more points themes simultaneously.
The Breaks Analysis allow the identification of points which locates and records the GPS points where the vehicle has not moved over a period of time longer than a specified period (20 min. For example).
The Productivity Analysis will calculate the processing time polygons from one or more points themes. Productivity can be determined from time in production mode, using break and or tractions time..
SMF Pro uses an ISO 8601 date structure for the integration and analysis of data from multiple sources. |

| Importing Garmin GPX files in ESRI Shapefile |
| The import feature GPX file allows conversion of recorded GPS Waypoints, Routes and Tracks in ESRI Shapefile format, points, lines and polygons. |
|
The function allows various operations structuring data such as:
- projecting data (MTM, UTM, etc.)
- filtration on a date and time
- correcting date to local time
- assigning an operator to the imported data
It is possible to process multiple files and store the results in existing Shapefile. The option of using a date filter allows the selection via an interactive calendar, simple and effective. |

| Creating geometries (lines and polygons) from points |
There are 2 methods to generate routes (lines) and areas (polygons) from multiple points themes.
The first is to select points of one or more themes and use the function Creating geometries to create lines and / or polygons directly from the selections. Options are available to filter items, improve the geometry by a generalization and a tolerance adjustment borders.
The second method is to use the points themes globally with the functions Generate routes (lines) and Generate polygons. In this case, it is recommended to use the function Sector specification to consolidate the points.

|
The Creating geometries function use an advanced algorithms to produce results meeting the forestry context.
The image beside illustrates the option "Tolerance Adjustment Borders" to produce very different results from the simple function of buffer, available in ArcView.
The option eliminates the inclusion of a width less than a specified tolerance, represented by long empty negligible production results. |

|
| Points Themes Filtering |
A filter function allows to generate new themes of points, filtered by various parameters, such as DOP, speed, hydraulics and more.
A smoothing algorithm used to apply geometric repositioning points increasing the uniformity of movement.

| Productivity analysis |
The Pproductivity Analysis function allows the analysis of points and their date to determine the mode ( production, breaks, tractions, stop) by processing blocks defined by polygons. Options allow you to filter the items used, detect stops, calculating time in breaks and traction and to subdivide the result at 24h00, while providing daily information. |
| |
|
The results are produced in several formats: :
- entry in the polygons tables,
- screen display,
- text file
- Activity report (dbf table)
- Crystal Reports
- Excel summary report
These help identify the applicable time (ha / h).
The function will use results from Breaks Analysis and Traction Analysis to accumulate over time. The results can then calculate the time modes :
- Production
- Break
- Traction
- Stop

| Progress Report |
The progress report identifies all modes from the analysis of GPS points in time. The results present each mode (Productive, Break, Ttraction and Stop) and the time associated with them. Treatment can be achieved on several themes, representing several machines.
The results are entered into a dBase table (*. dbf) that can be used to present the results as a Crystal Report. Treatment may use results of Breaks Analysis and Traction Analysis.

| Sectors Specification |
The Sectors Specification allows the grouping of points that will facilitate Filtration, Creating Routes and Areas treatment. This function is used when the user wishes to create routes (lines) and areas (polygons) of a single treatment for all themes.
The tool can be used on one or several themes. The sectors names can be preset via the configuration interface.
The selection applies to all points themes checked and the database updates is performed automaticaly.

|
|
| Creating routes |
This function permit the establishment of routes (lines) from points. These allow you to visualize the movement of machinery and also perform a visual validation before creating the treated areas (polygons).
It is possible to apply a segmentation of lines depending on the distance between 2 consecutive points.
A generalization of treatment will also clean the points in regions where many points have been accumulated. |
 |
| |
|
| |
|
| Creating areas |
The Creation of Areas generate polygons using lines produced with the function above(Creating Routes).
It is possible to merge the polygons that overlap.
The gaps or exclusions may be merged by a minimum area.
The function "Polygons Union" will merge all the overlapping polygons produced. |

|
| |
|
| |
|
| Trails Analysis |
| The Trails Analysis permits to obtain the percentage (%) of overlapping polygons in points themes representing the GPS machinery empatement. The result, in addition to being listed in the table of the theme, will be displayed to the user.
It is possible to print a Crystal Report paths weighted analysis by sector interventions.
