For several years, Groupe Système Forêt has invested time and effort into the development of a methodology for creating DEMs and slopes maps. One of our notable involvements was our participation in the creation of a method for the slopes map realisation for the Fourth Decennial Inventory.

This method utilizes a process of regression and interpolation combining the surface structure hydrology and the elevation. We can then yield high quality results both in accuracy and of high visual impact. All our DEMs are produced with a 4 meter resolution which allows the creation of very detailed cartographic material.

All the digital slopes are derived from those DEMs and are cleaned up according to minimal area variables (0.5 hectare for F class and 1 hectare for A through E classes). The yielded results are delivered in matrix and vector formats allowing the user to do combined analyses
