Images satellites GSF

The Groupe Système forêt offers since 1996 remote sensing services of high quality and in conjunction with the real users needs.

Expert in high to medium resolution images processing from DigitalGlobe, GeoEye, Spot, USGS and RapidEye, GSF may also improve the information provided by these images by applying different treatments like enhancement, balancing, orthorectification, mosaicking and classification.

Satellites and images suggested are :

  • QuickBird (60 cm, colors) from DigitalGlobe
  • WorldView-1 (50 cm, greyscale) from DigitalGlobe
  • WolrdView-2 (50 cm, colors) from DigitalGlobe
  • GeoEye-1 (50 cm, colors) from GeoEye
  • Ikonos (1 m, colors) from GeoEye
  • RapideEye (5 m, colors) from RapidEye
  • Spot 4 (10 m, colors) from Spot Image
  • Spot 5 (2.5 m, colors) from Spot Image
  • Landsat (30 m, colors) from USGS

GSF is active in several sectors. Click on the links below for examples of projects undertaken by GSF.

DigitalGlobe : QuickBird (60 cm), WorldView-1 and WorldView-2 (50 cm)

DigitalGlobe Logo

GSF take orders to capture new images or existing archives images from DigitalGlobe for the satellites QuickBird (60 cm, colors), WorldView-1 (50 cm, greyscale) and WorldView-2 (50 cm, colors).

The cost for programming a new image capture is 23 U.S. $ / km2 for color images and 20 U.S. $ / km2 for those in greyscale. Orders must reach a minimum of U.S. $ 1800. The blocks that make up the command must achieve a minimum area of 64 km2 each.

The archives images are available at lower cost and areas. The cost of an archive image is 17 U.S. $ / km2 for color images and 14 U.S. $ / km2 for those in greyscale. The minimum size of blocks is 25 km2.

GeoEye : Ikonos (1 m) and GeoEye-1 (50 cm)

GeoEye Logo

The company GeoEye, formerly Orbimage, operates 2 satellites Ikonos (1 m, colors) and GeoEye-1 (50 cm, colors). GSF take orders for new images capture or archive images from these satellites and performs all processing required for rapid integration into your GIS..

The cost for programming a new image capture is 25 U.S. $ / km2 images GeoEye-1 and 23 U.S. $ / km2 for Ikonos. The command must be composed of blocks having a minimum area of 100 km2 each.

The image archives are available at lower cost and area. The cost of an archive image is 12.50 U.S. $ / km2 images GeoEye-1 and 10.00 U.S. $ / km2 for Ikonos. The minimum size of blocks of records is 49 km2.

Spot 4 (10 m) and Spot 5 (2.5 m) Spot Image

The French company Spot Image operates 2 satellites of medium and high resolution, Spot-4 (10 m) and Spot-5 (2.5 m). It is possible to order a complete scene 60km x 60km or sub-section of it.

The Groupe Système Forêt also offers mosaic, balancing, enhancement of Spot images available free on the inititive of Geomatics Canada at www.geobase.ca.

RapidEye (5 m) RapidEye

On august 29, 2008 a rocket DNEPR-1 has put into orbit a constellation of 5 satellites RapidEye. Those satellites capture images with a resolution of 5 meters with spectral band in the visible and near infra-red..

The cost of acquisition of images from the kiosk is 1.50 Euros / km2 with a minimum order of 50 EUROS. The cost of acquiring the image archive is 0.95 Euros / km2 with a minimum order of 2500 EUROS.

You can browse the catalog of images via kiosk of RapideEye.

Landsat (15 to 30m) USGS Logo

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) operates the satellites Landsat 5 and 7 which provide images of medium resolution (15 m to 30 m) to obtain a regional profile and track the changes in the land at low cost .

Since January 2009, almost all the images captured by the Landsat 5 and 7 are available for free. The costs associated with projects using these images are kept to a strict minimum of image processing, ortho-rectification, enhancement, and mosaic. The Landsat 5 satellite captures images with a resolution of 30 meters over 25 years. Landsat 7 captures images with a panchromatic band with a resolution of 15 meters, but since 2003 it has a major breakdown producing partial images. However, GSF has developed a method to integrate these images to produce improved results.

You can browse the catalog of images available online through the browser http://glovis.usgs.gov/

GSF has produced several mosaics of Quebec, the Maritimes and Newfoundland for the years 1970, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Consult the page Landsat for mor information.
